The Baseball team traveled East to the Wiregrass for their opening round series in the State Playoffs, and they came home with a 2-game sweep of the homestanding Headland Rams to advance to this weekend's second round. The Bulldogs will host Elmore County this Friday at Radcliff Field with the first game starting at 4:00 PM. The second game will be played immediately following the first, and the "if necessary" 3
rd game would be played on Saturday at 1:00 PM.

Headland 3
In the opening game at Headland, UMS-Wright scored a combined 5 runs in the 2
nd and 3
rd innings to take a 6-1 lead. Another 3 run burst in the 5
th inning put the game away.
Andy Purvis pitched all 7 innings to earn the win, allowing 5 hits and striking out 8 batters. Colby Weaver led the Bulldogs with 3 hits and an RBI.
Sam Davis added 3 RBIs on 2 hits, and
John Ramsay also had a productive game at the plate with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Headland 4
In the second game, the Bulldogs got off to an early lead scoring 4 runs in the 1
st inning. They never lost the lead and added one run in each of their last 3 innings.
Sam Davis hit a 3 RBI double in the first inning and a solo homer in the 6
th to finish the game with 4 RBIs.
John Ramsay,
Ty Waters and
Ty Mabrey joined Davis multiple hits in the game.
Jack Blackerby pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and striking out 8 batters with only 2 walks. Waters came in for the final out of the game.
