For the second year in a row, the Lady Bulldogs Volleyball team will play for the State Championship.  After defeating West Point and Catholic Montgomery on Wednesday, UMS-Wright advances to play in-town rival Faith Academy in the finals on Thursday morning at 10:00AM.  The Bulldogs and Rams are familiar foes this season, and the State Final tomorrow will be the 4th time the teams have played in 2024.  UMS-Wright won the previous 3 matches 3-0 in Wilson Gym on October 3rd, 2-0 in the Silver Bracket Championship of the Battle of Old Shell Road Tournament on October 5th, and 3-1 in last week's Super Regional Final in Montgomery.

UMS-Wright defeated West Point 3-0 in the State Quarterfinal match Wednesday morning, setting up the semifinal against Catholic Montgomery.  The Bulldogs won the first set 25-20, but then dropped the second (20-25) and third (22-25) sets to trail the Knights 2-1.  UMS-Wright trailed 20-22 late in the fourth set, but battled back to win it 25-23.  In the decisive 5th set, UMS-Wright led 14-11 and Ella Claire Sullivan's ace was the winning point .  In the semifinal, Chandler Thomas led the Bulldogs with 20 kills and Josie Jaye had 15 kills and 11 digs.  Along with the match winning serve, Ella Claire Sullivan also had an incredible defensive game with 40 digs.  

The Bulldogs will face Faith Academy at 10:00 on Thursday morning, and the game will be streamed on the NFHS network (Subscription required).
