UMS-Wright fell behind 21-3 in the first half, but scored 10 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to make it a one score game. Neither team scored in the 4th quarter and Faith Academy held on for a 21-13 win. The Bulldogs are now 5th in the Region standings, but a win over Williamson this week should be enough to get UMS-Wright into the playoffs for the 30th consecutive season - which is the second longest streak in the state.
Gulf Shores has clinched the #1 seed, and Faith can lock up the #2 seed with a win over Leflore on Friday. B.C. Rain, Vigor and UMS-Wright are all still in the mix for the #3 and #4 seeds, but one of them will get left out.

UMS-Wright at Williamson (Ladd Stadium - Thursday 11/2)
B. C. Rain at Gulf Shores
Faith Academy at Leflore
Elberta at Citronelle
Sidney Lanier at Vigor
Playoff Scenarios:
Here are the playoff scenarios
with a UMS-W WIN over Williamson:
Gulf Shores - #1 (Locked)
Faith Academy - Win over Leflore Locks #2
If B. C. Rain defeats Gulf Shores, they will be the #3 seed and UMS-Wright will be the #4 seed.
If Gulf Shores beats B. C. Rain, then it gets really deep into the tie-breaker procedures.
During the regular season:
B.C. Rain beat UMS-W but lost to Vigor
Vigor beat B.C. Rain but lost to UMS-W
UMS-W beat Vigor but lost to B.C. Rain
If B. C. Rain, Vigor and UMS-Wright are all tied at 5-3 in Region Play, the tie-breaker is based on combined wins of non-region opponents that each team beat.
- B. C. Rain has 3 wins from Excel and 5 wins from Davidson. Excel plays Choctaw County and Davidson plays Jackson this week. (Currently 8 / Max Possible 10)
- UMS-Wright has 6 wins from T. R. Miller. Miller could get UMS-W a 6th win by defeating W. S. Neal this week. (Currently 6 / Max Possible 7)
- Vigor currently has 1win from Blount. They play Sidney Lanier this week, and a win would give them 5 more in the tie-breaker. (Currently 1 / Max Possible 6)
B. C. Rain wins this tie-breaker to claim the #3 seed. Then UMS-Wright would get the #4 seed due to their head-to-head win against Vigor.
Therefore, in the situation where these 3 schools all finish 5-3, B.C. Rain would get the #3 seed and UMS-Wright would get the #4 seed.
Game Recap
1st Quarter
Faith Academy received the opening kickoff and started a drive at their own 40 yard line. Jaeden Simmons picked two first downs for Faith and moved the ball to the Bulldog 26-yard line. On a 3rd and 6 play,
Joe Lott intercepted Rams QB Jarrett Daughtry, giving the Bulldogs the football at the Faith 21 yard line.
Short runs by Lott and
Jake Jaye, followed by an incomplete pass on 3rd down, led to a 3 and out for UMS-W. Faith followed suit with a 3 and out of their own, punting the ball back to the Bulldogs.
Thomas Portacci's run was called back on a hold, putting the Bulldogs behind the chains. Jaye ran for 8 yards and Lott completed a pass for a big gain to
Denton Elliott to put the ball at the Ram's 18-yard line.
Kingston Phan connected on a 35 yard field goal to put the Bulldogs up 3-0.

2nd Quarter
After consecutive 3 and outs from each offense, Simmons had another big run for Faith followed by a 46-yard WR screen from Daughtry to Jacori Stabler for a touchdown. Faith took the lead 7-3. On their ensuing possession, Lott picked up a first down on a big run, but the drive stalled and
William Taylor punted it away. Faith Academy had a big gain on another WR screen before Simmons ripped off a 52 yard touchdown run to put the Rams ahead 14-3.
UMS-W fumbled the kickoff , and Faith scored again 4 plays later on a Tynean Goodwill 6 yard TD run. With little time left before the half, UMS-W put together a solid 2-minute drill and moved the ball to the Faith 10 after two completions from Lott to Elliott. With no timeouts remaining, a tackle for loss on 3rd down dashed the chance to score and a last second pass on 4th down was incomplete in the end zone.

3rd Quarter
James Hollon replaced the injured
Jake Jaye in the 3rd quarter and ripped off two 11-yard runs to move the chains. Runs from Lott and Hollon kept the drive going, and a personal foul on the Rams moved the ball to the 13-yard line. Two plays later,
Joe Lott scored from 6-yards out.
The Bulldog defense forced another Faith 3 and out, highlighted by a 3rd down sack from
Mac McGinley. Hollon and Lott kept the momentum in the run game going, and the drive finished with another Phan field goal, this one from 38 yards out.

4th Quarter
With the Bulldogs coming back from down 18 to make it a one score game, the defense held strong again and
Perry Hand's 3rd down sack forced a punt. The Bulldogs picked up a first down on a big gainer from Lott, but lost 10 yards over the next 3 plays and punted it away.
Faith chewed up a lot of clock and picked up 4 first downs - all on the ground - to set up a field goal that would essentially put the game away.
Joe Lott blocked the field goal, and the holder was called for intentional grounding to give the Bulldogs even better field position. Lott had runs of 10 and 14 and connected with Elliott for another first down completion as the clock ticked inside of 2 minutes. The comeback effort ended when the Rams intercepted a pass in the end zone.

From the Coaches
Coach Dean on the Offense:
This past week, it was disappointing that we didn't get the win. We played hard and had opportunities, but it seemed like we were always just one step away from breaking open some plays. Everyone will continue to work to get better at the little things that are keeping us from making those plays, and that will pay off in the end. James Hollon entered the game in the 2nd half and had some explosive runs. He will provide some great depth moving forward in the backfield. This week is a must win against a good Williamson team in order for us to get in the playoffs. Once the playoffs start, you never know what can happen.
Coach Koziol on the Defense:
Friday night at Faith was a very tough loss. I thought the defense played extremely hard for most of the night. We started fast with a Joe Lott interception and settled in nicely until the 2nd quarter. We didn't execute our assignments on a couple of plays and that created explosive plays for them. We did a poor job leveraging the football and tackling in space, and that really hurt us and gave them scores. We had a really good halftime talk and the guys played with better energy and effort in the 2nd half. We tackled better and got off the field - trying to get the ball back to our offense.
Despite the loss, I was very proud of their effort and they continued to play hard. Our DL hung in there and had a few sacks and the LBs hung tough fitting the box against their inside run attack. The secondary did a great job holding their most dangerous player to 2 catches for less than 10 yards.
