Citronelle Preview

Williamson and Vigor are the lone remaining unbeaten teams in Region 1. Williamson travels to Faith Academy tonight while Vigor hosts Elberta.  The top 3 seeds will shake out over the following two weeks as both UMS-Wright (10/10) and Vigor (10/17) travel to Williamson.

Tonight's opponent, Citronelle, sits at 2-4 overall and 1-2 in Region 1 games.  They beat Faith Academy before dropping games to Williamson and Vigor.  It looks like the 4th seed and final playoff spot in Region 1 might come down to the winner of the Citronelle - B.C. Rain game on October 10th.  The Wildcats are led by #5 Kemarkys Howard and #1 Kobe Weaver.  The two running backs have combined for 7 touchdowns, with Howard rushing for over 100 yards in two games.  Quarterback #12 Whyatt Nelson has only completed 36% of his 44 pass attempts this season, and Howard leads the team in passing TDs.  Weaver is the leading receiver for the Wildcats with 9 catches for 89 yards and 2 TDs. Their defense has forced 7 turnovers so far, with Kobe Weaver pulling down 5 interceptions.  Linebacker #34 Timothy Rivers leads the team in tackles, averaging 12 a game.

The Bulldogs are still very much in the hunt for a top-2 finish in the Region and a home playoff game in Round 1.  A win over Citronelle tonight sets up a game at Williamson next week to stay in that hunt.

Tonight is a "White-Out" at Cooper Stadium - so grab your favorite white shirt before you head to the game!
