Ann-Dyas Thompson both won individual state titles, and the team of Ladd and
Kate Huddle won the Doubles #1 Championship as the Lady Bulldogs finished 14 points ahead of Muscle Shoals for the red trophy. Here are some highlights from a thrilling two days at the Mobile Tennis Center.

Singles #1
Sarah Ladd cruised to the finals, only dropping 3 sets in her first 3 matches at the State Tournament. Her opening round wins were over Gadsden City (6-1 / 6-0) and Hartselle (6-0 / 6-0), and she defeated Pelham in the semifinals (6-0 / 6-0). In the Finals, Ladd won an intense 3
rd set tiebreaker 10-7 to secure the individual title over McGill-Toolen (6-4 / 2-6 / 10-7)

Singles #4
Ann-Dyas Thompson won her opening three matches in straight sets, defeating Decatur (6-4 / 6-4), Hartselle (6-1 / 6-4) and Muscle Shoals (6-4 / 6-2). Thompson would drop her first set of the tournament 1-6 in the opening frame of the Finals against Mountain Brook. She rebounded quickly and won the second set 6-1 before winning a marathon 3
rd set tiebreaker 16-14 to win the individual title.

Singles #5
After defeating Houston Academy (6-3 / 6-3) in the opening round,
Victoria Rizk won a 3
rd set tiebreaker in her second round match on Monday, beating Northridge (4-6 / 6-3 / 10-6). In her semifinal match on Tuesday against Muscle Shoals, Rizk won in straight sets (6-3 / 6-1) but would fall in straight sets in the finals to Mountain Brook to finish as the state runner-up.

Doubles #1
Sarah Ladd and
Kate Huddle were dominant all the way through the finals, winning all 4 matches without dropping a set. On Monday Ladd and Huddle beat Pelham (6-0 / 6-0) and McGill-Toolen (6-3 / 6-4). In Tuesday's semifinal they beat Muscle Shoals (6-0 / 6-4). In the Finals against Mountain Brook, Ladd & Huddle built a 3-0 first set lead and held on to win 7-6 before cruising to a 6-1 finish in the title winning 2
nd set.

Doubles #2
Rhea Mostellar and
Ann-Dyas Thompson moved through the first two matches quickly dropping only 3 sets on the way to wins over Houston Academy (6-0 / 6-0) and Pike Road (6-1 / 6-2). In their semifinal match against Mountain Brook, Mostellar and Thompson dropped the first set 1-6 but fought back to win the 2
nd set 7-5 and advance to the Finals after winning the tiebreaker 10-7. The girls finished as the runner-up falling to Hartselle in 2 sets.
