The Varsity Girls Tennis Team defeated St. Luke's 8-1 on Monday afternoon, improving their season record to 8-4 at the midway point of the regular season.
Ann-Dyas Thompson and
Victoria Rizk both won long and very even matches to lead UMS-Wright to the victory. Coach
Meridy Jones said, "I am so proud of the persistance these two girls showed in our match today. AD won in a tiebreaker, and V won 8-6. After giving such a great effort to win their singles matches, they paired up and won on their doubles court too."

Bulldogs defeated Pensacola Catholic in the McT Tournament and got a
surprise visit from Emmy Eckert ('23)
After dropping their first match of the year to Montgomery Academy, the girls rattled off 6 consecutive wins. Four of the six were 9-0 sweeps, and the streak included a 6-3 win over McGill-Toolen. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in 4A-5A Section 1 matches with wins over Orange Beach (9-0) and St. Michael (9-0). The Sectional Tournament is just over a month away, and the girls have several important Section matches remaining in the regular season. Next up for UMS-Wright is a trip to Elberta on Thursday (weather permitting!) .
