Coach Shay Owen enters her 17th year as Head Varsity Cheerleading Coach. Along with coordinating the Middle School, JV, and Varsity cheerleading activities, she is responsible for Baby Bulldogs, Bulldog Athletic Association Cheerleading, and is the PE dance instructor for grades 6 – 9.
Coach Owen earned a bachelor's degree in 1997 from the University of Alabama. She was a Crimsonette with the Million Dollar Band and a member of the Crimson Cabaret Dancers. Coach Owen has performed at the Outback Bowl, the Citrus Bowl, and SEC Championship games and has been a dance instructor for the past 23 years. Beyond cheerleading, Coach Owen is Director of the Creative Dance Center for after-school dance here on the UMS-Wright campus.
Coach Owen has three children: Cole, Hayden (Ole Miss), and McClain (K5). She is married to her husband Chad Marchand.
