Coach Carolyn Houston enters her third season as the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach. She holds a MA degree in Educational Media and a BS degree in K-12 Physical Education from South Alabama. She also holds an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Faulkner Community College.

Coach Houston graduated from McGill-Toolen High School in 2002. She played 4 years of volleyball and basketball and letter 3 years in both sports. During her senior year she was named to the Mobile Register Super 12 Volleyball Team-Honorable Mention. She went on to play at Faulkner State Community College on a full Volleyball scholarship. Houston was the team captain and was name to the All-Tournament Team in the State playoffs. She was also named to the Dean’s list, President List, National Deans List, Phi Thea Kappa, Pi Psi Chapter, International Honor Society and the Who’s Who Among Junior College.

She is coming from Alma Bryant High School where she was the Head JV Coach for the 2018 season. Prior to Alma Bryant, Coach Houston was the Head Volleyball coach at Baker High School for 6 years 2012-2017. At Baker, she led the teams to five area championships, six Super Regional appearance, and and three Elite Eight Appearance. She was the Head Coach for the South team for the North/South Volleyball game in 2014. She has coach club volleyball on and off since 2002. Coach Houston served as Mobile County Coaches Association secretary for two years and is currently the treasurer. While at UMS-Wright she has led the team to a runner up in area, last year area champs, and two Super Regional appearances.Â

Coach Houston and her husband, Sam Houston, have been married for 12 years. Their daughter Annalynn attends K5 at UMS-Wright, and their son, Sam JR, was born in February and will be a future Bulldog.Â
