Brent Daugherty

Coach Brent Daugherty is in his 10th season as the Defensive Coordinator for the Middle School Football team. He is entering his 12th year at UMS-Wright; 6th year as the Dean of Technology. Brent taught 6th grade Science for 4 years and then took the role of Assistant Middle School Principal for 2 years. He has also coached Varsity Outdoor Track and is currently an Assistant Coach for the UMS-Wright Lacrosse club team.

His coaching career began in college when he volunteered as the Defensive Coordinator for two years at Lake Forrest Middle School in Cleveland, Tennessee. 

Coach Daugherty graduated from UMS-Wright in 2004. While a Bulldog, he lettered in Varsity Football for 4 years, Varsity Outdoor Track for 6 years, Varsity Indoor Track for 4 years, and Varsity Baseball for 2 years. He played for Coach Terry Curtis and played on the 2001 & 2002 State Football Championship Teams. He also won 5 Track State Championships under Coach Pat Galle as a sprinter and hurdler. He also won the R.E. Hanks Athletic Award, which is presented to the senior male varsity athlete who, in the opinion of the varsity coaches, has made the greatest contribution to varsity athletics.

In his spare time, Brent enjoys golfing and retreating to his family hunting camp with his dog, Divot. He and his wife are actice members of Christ United Methodist Church.

Brent and his wife, Bradley Headrick Daugherty, were married in December 2019.
