Coach Meridy Jones has been on staff at UMS-Wright for over 30 years. Meridy Jones has been coaching the JV and Varsity tennis teams for seventeen years. She went to school at Julius T. Wright, and she returned to teach at Wright when she graduated from college. When the two schools merged, she moved to UMS-Wright where she has been ever since. Mrs. Jones works in the upper school as the high school guidance counselor. In her seventeen years as coach, the team has won fourteen state championships, and the girls hold the state record of consecutive wins - 11 in a row.
During her time at UMS-Wright, she has been named the AHSAAÂ Tennis Coach of the Year, as well as the NFHSÂ Southeastern Coach of the Year.Â
A native of Mobile, Coach Jones graduated from Julius T. Wright. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama, and then went on to receive her master's degree from the University of South Alabama. Coach Jones has been married to her husband, Terry Jones, for 23 years.
