Ruben Risco

Ruben Risco begins his third season as Head Coach of the Boys Soccer Program and fourth year teaching Social Studies for the Upper School History department.

Prior to coming to UMS-Wright, Coach Risco coached the Varsity Girls team at Choctawhatchee HS. He was the Head Varsity Boys Coach at McGill-Toolen Catholic from 2010-2014. He also spent a year as an Assistant Varsity Boys Coach at St. Paul's. 

Coach Risco is very involved in the local soccer community with stints at Mobile Soccer Club, Mobile United, and most recently working as an assistant coach at AFC Mobile, the top amateur men's team in the Gulf Coast Premier League.  Coach Risco serves as the AFC Youth Academy Boys' Director.

Coach Risco was a standout soccer player at McGill-Toolen Catholic, where he was named Rotary Club "Player of the Year" in 2001. He was also named Lakeshore Shootout "MVP" and to the "Who's Who in High School Sports." He set a school record of 34 goals in one season. Upon graduation, Coach Risco was recruited to play for the U.S. Naval Academy. He spent his first season playing for Spring Hill College, before finishing his last three seasons at the University of Mobile.      

Coach Risco holds many national coaching certifications including his USSF "D" License, USC Advanced National Diploma Coaching, USC Director of Coaching Diploma, and USC High School Coaching Diploma, and USC Level 1 Futsal Diploma.
