Coach Johnthan Thornton enters his 3rd year as the boys assistant basketball coach and assistant middle school football coach. Coach Thornton works in the Lower school PE department. In 2023-24, Coach Thornton was named Head JV Basketball Coach after two years working as a Head Coach in the middle school program. 
After graduating from UMS-Wright in 2016, Coach Thornton attended Tuskegee University where he obtained his BA in Physical Education. After receiving his degree in 2021, he moved back home to Mobile and began his coaching and teaching career here at UMS-Wright. He now has a beautiful baby girl, Leila, who is now 9 months old. Outside of work, Coach Thornton enjoys spending time with his family as much as he can.
