Coach Lindsey Seaborg recaps the meet:
WOW! There are so many amazing results to recap that I don't even know where to start! As you will see from the results, both our girls and boys teams walked away with a decisive victory! Our combined mens and womens scores
OVER DOUBLED the second place team's score! (987 to 414). THAT is what I call a victory! There were 7 teams at this meet, so it was exciting to see us come away with the win in such a way!
One big piece of news is that our team achieved our first 6A-7A state cuts yesterday! Our girls medley relay
(Arianna Havens, Nancy Skidmore, Kathryn Busbee, and
Ann Claire McMillian) and our boys 200 freestyle relay (
Walker Busbee, Ethan DeGraeve, Lucas DeGraeve, and
Wrenn Landers) absolutely CRUSHED the state qualifying times! It is very exciting to know that, even with the new
very fast time standards, we will be bringing a team to the state meet this year!
I think one of the most mind-blowing statistics of the whole meet is that we had a whopping
THIRTY personal best times at this meet! This is in huge part due to the hard work of our athletes and the amazing and consistent leadership shown every day by our juniors and seniors. I am more proud of each of you than you can know.
We had more top three finishers than we have had so far this season! They are (in order of events):
Frances Busbee, Carter Barko, Chloe Barko, Eleanor Roberds, Arianna Havens, Walker Busbee, Lucas DeGraeve, Kathryn Busbee, Ethan Degraeve, Bebe Childers, Walker Busbee, Nancy Skidmore, and
Wrenn Landers!
Our individual event champions from this meet were:
Kathryn Busbee, Ethan Degraeve, Walker Busbee, Arianna Havens, Lucas DeGraeve, and
Nancy Skidmore!
We had a number of swimmers achieve a best time in BOTH their events at this meet! These swimmers were:
Carter Barko, Davis Chandler, Bebe Childers, Charlotte Delmage, Matthew Driscoll, Gunnar Howell, EV McGorty, Joy Mostellar, Marley Santana, and
Jonah Williams!
Baileigh Whiddon was also a top three finisher! She came in second place in the 100 breaststroke AND dropped time in her 50 freestyle! It is very difficult for a senior to get best times this early in the season, so Coach McNally and I are extra proud of her. Some other individual highlights include:
Davis Chandler breaking 30 seconds for the first time in the 50 free,
Wren Cooper cutting an astonishing 9 seconds off her 100 free time, and
Charlotte Delmage dropping 4.5 seconds in her 50 free!
